Keri Hilson

Pop singer Keri Hilson’s debut album In A Perfect World has just been RIAA certified GOLD. Her most recent single, “Slow Dance,” rising to #2 on BET’s “106 & Park” countdown (October 16); and now this week earning a pair of American Music Awards nominations, Keri Hilson has shot from “star on the horizon” to “a new star has arrived.” Despite just one album to her credit, Hilson has been AMA-nominated for Favorite Female Artist (Soul/R&B) along with Beyonce and Keyshia Cole. She has also been nominated as the T-Mobile Soul/R&B Breakthrough Artist along with Jeremih.

Hilson will participate as a presenter at the 37th Annual American Music Awards to be broadcast Sunday, November 22, from 8-11 p.m. ET/PT, live on ABC from the NOKIA Theatre in Los Angeles. For the third consecutive year, the winners will be determined by online voting at www.amavote.com and www.mycokerewards.com.

Coincidentally, Keyshia Cole appears as a guest vocalist on In A Perfect World… (Mosley Music Group/Zone 4/Interscope). Produced by Timbaland, Polow Da Don, Danja, and others, the album was released in March 2009 and debuted #4 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. In A Perfect World… has also spun off two previous hit singles: “Turnin’ Me On” (featuring Lil Wayne) peaked at #15 on the Hot 100 and #2 R&B/Hip-Hop, and “Knock You Down” (featuring Kanye West and Ne-Yo) reached #3 Hot 100 and #1 R&B/Hip-Hop.

Hilson, named Best New Artist at the BET Awards earlier this year, will be featured on a pair of tracks, “Maniac” and “What Side You On,” on the upcoming Timbaland Presents Shock Value 2 album due November 24. This follows up to her appearance on 2007’s platinum Timbaland Presents Shock Value, which included “The Way I Are,” the double platinum sensation which hit #1 Pop for three weeks as well as #3 Hot 100. Most recently, on October 19, after concluding a sold-out tour of South Africa with John Legend, Hilson performed at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls near Johannesburg.
