A few months ago it seemed as though the public would have to wait until 2010 to hear new music from Rihanna but without too much of a wait 4 million radio listeners heard the first offering from Rated R entitled “Russian Roulette”, which was written by Ne-Yo and produced by Chuck Harmony. Already, three days after the world premiere of the single and everyone in Rihanna’s camp is receiving criticism about the suicide-heavy lyrics of the song. That’s not stopping Rihanna from going on a promo circus in November.

The music video for “Russian Roulette” will be shot by long-time video director of Rihanna, Anthony Mandler. Mandler has shot the music videos for Unfaithful, We Ride, Shut Up & Drive, Hate That I Love You, Take a Bow, Disturbia, Rehab, Run This Town and now Russian Roulette. The video will receive a primetime television premiere on the ABC network on the 6th of November.

It has been confirmed that Rihanna will release her second single, “The Wait Is Ova”, in a few weeks. Mikkel Storleer Eriksen of StarGate who produced the second single stated, “We were just told that they go for ‘The Wait Is Ova’ as next single and that it will launch in a few weeks before the album release. It means a lot to us to be a part of a single-release in this format.”

In the third bit of news, Rap-Up.com revealed from an inside source that Rihanna will perform at the 2009 American Music Awards set to air from the Nokia theater in Los Angeles LIVE on Sunday, November 22, at 8 p.m. EST/PST on ABC. There has been no confirmation on which of the two singles she will perform but this will mark the first award show of the year that Rihanna has performed for.

Well we waited and now “The Wait is Ova”, quicker than we can comprehend. Rated R is in stores on ‘Super Monday’, November 23, 2009.
