Seriously.. 2010 is the year of Bruno Mars! He was featured on BoB’s newest single “Nothin’ On You“.. Travie McCoy “Billionaire” single.. and now David Guetta’s newest track “World Goes Round”. Phillip Lawerence on the other hand has not been in the spotlight that much. Phillip Lawerence and Bruno Mars are a writing duo that together make up the The Smeezington. You can see Phillip Lawerence in the video for “Nothin’ On You” playing the piano while Bruno sings the hook.

Lady Gaga gets her fierce on with guest diva Beyoncé in the video for “Telephone.” Gaga gets locked up in prison and meets up on the road with B. The put on their highest heels to pull a Naomi Campbell and smash those haters with their phones. The Jonas Akerlund-directed clip is the latest single off of Gaga’s second album, “The Fame Monster,” and promises to be even more epic than the Konvict songstress’s last hit, “Bad Romance.”

Lady Gaga has said that the video for “Telephone” picks up where “Paparazzi” left off but will surpass its predecessor. Gaga’s on-screen chemistry with Beyoncé transforms the song from a popular dance floor gem to a raw and explosive piece of art to be reckoned with.

We have been championing and charting the career of UK star Bluey Robinson for months now at N2S and on Sunday I journeyed to watch him headline a gig at the Roundhouse in Camden (despite the failures of the London transport system). Also performing were grime trio Marvell and the very talented McLean. Marvell got the show underway and performed around four of their songs – It was the first time I saw these guys perform, so I cannot tell you the names of the songs, but most importantly they were impressive and got the crowd warmed up. McLean was next and also performed around five or six songs and sounded pretty impressive but in all honesty I missed his complete performance because I was in conversation at the bar about UK urban music. Finally we got the headline act, who of course was Bluey Robinson. Bluey began with “Think of Me” and then got everyone moving with “Give Me a Sign”, that was followed by “Got To Be a Way”, which was the first time I saw performed live and it was sounding good. Then Bluey performed an amazing cover of Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody”, which was one of the highlights of the night. “Showgirl” was next and that is my personal favorite of Bluey’s tracks by which time I was pretty drunk and really into the show. What was pretty awesome was the way they mixed the beat from Cameo’s “Candy” into “Showgirl” – As someone who has a liking to all things retro, I really appreciated this and notice that Bluey and his team seem to like to put a little retro-spin on things, something similar was done with the “I Know” intro at the Wandsworth Palais in November. Speaking of “I Know” that was the final song of the night and the one we had all been waiting for and Bluey didn’t disappoint. A mention also has to go to Bluey’s band, particularly impressed by the guitarist, who was consistent the whole evening, his name is Daniel Storey according to the flyer. All in all an amazing evening and well worth every penny – £10 to see three of the UK’s hottest new urban acts is a bargain! The Roundhouse is a nice venue too – No matter where you were, you felt right a part of what was going on. Great crowd too, a crowd of well-informed music fans – Always good to be in a crowd of music lovers.
