Odd Future rolls deep in talent. Members like Tyler, The Creator and Frank Ocean have already established their mark in music. Earl Sweatshirt and Hodgy Beats represent the next generation of hip hop. Next on the roster to have their breakout moment is The Internet.
Producer Matt Martians and singer Syd Tha Kyd make up the neo-soul band that is easily the most eclectic of the Wolf Gang bunch. With their 2011 debut, Purple Naked Ladies, under their belts, the band is preparing to release their sophomore album, Feel Good, on September 24. While the band is mainly headlined by Syd and Martians, the new LP will feature Patrick Paige II on bass, Christopher Allan Smith on drums and Tay Walker on keys. These are the band members normally present during The Internet's live shows.
The lead single “Dontcha” might be The Internet's best work yet. The track is all funk and R&B with an infectious beat framed by sparse psychedelic sounds. The soft vocals of Syd prove Ocean is not the only soulful voice of Odd Future. Speaking about the new record, Syd tweeted out the album "is a journey through funk and soul through the eyes of young adults trying to find their way."
The new LP will feature guest appearances by Mac Miller and singer Yuna. Lacey Duke directed the black and white music video to accompany “Dontcha”. It is as smooth as the song itself. Feel Good is available for pre-order on iTunes now.
