Stacy Barthe & Luke James Support CharlieRED, Ro James & Big K.R.I.T. at BMI's "Know Them Now" Showcase

You know how you always hear the phrase "good things comes in threes"? Well, BMI definitely proved that last night. Set in the dimly let, high acoustic, and elevating atmosphere of The Canal Room, last night's showcase of talent proved nothing less than amazing. Featuring emerging artists, Ro James (short for Ronnie James), CharlieRED, and Def Jam recording artist, Big K.R.I.T., tastemakers, music lovers, and fans got a special treat wrapped in three.

Opening the show was NYC based artist, Ro James. With his fedora tilted, a bottle of Jack Daniels in his hand, and a smile to charm the ladies, James let it be known that he came to steal fans through song. And while he hasn't put out a full project yet, you can already tell those in the audience who knew his music were huge fans. On top of singing his own material such as "A.D.I.D.A.S." (and yes..it is means exactly what you think it means) and "Pledge Allegiance", James also put his on spin on Radiohead's "Creep". Personally, any man who can sing Radiohead and goes further and chooses THAT song to cover is a gooood musician. James' band? Amazing. James' background singer? Amazing. James himself? Amazing. Make sure you keep an eye out for this guy if you don't know him. I can already see him being a problem.

CharlieRED took the stage next. I was already a fan of Rockie Evans prior to this show and prior to him becoming a part of a collaborative effort. But listen..last night...I...he...listen. First, go and get CharlieRED's Religion EP if you don't have it. Secondly, if you ever get the chance to experience this group with their full band live, do it. I implore you. You want to talk about energy? Talk about ridiculous instrumentation (shout out to homie Reggie who KILLED the drums)? Talk about making you want to fall in love with a words? CharlieRED has the ability to do all that. And they did. Rocking all joints from the EP and even sharing an unreleased, never performed track named "Dollas", it is no wonder CharlieRED continues to build a huge following and so quickly. They really are awesome. Like...for real awesome.

Closing out the night with high energy, and accompanied by the one and only DJ Wally Sparks, Big K.R.I.T. decided he was going to share a special treat for his fans. If you missed the show last night, you should be jealous. The Mississippi bred, Atlanta based emcee rocked three new joints from his upcoming album King Remembered In Time, including his recently dropped single "R.E.M." Every song, every hook, every beat drop made you want to drop it right along with him and nod your head like a hip hop fanatic. If his album is anything like the tracks he rocked, it is safe to say that the project is going to be a problem. Take all of his mixtapes, his album, his features, and all the tracks he produced, mash them up together and package them really nicely, and you will have the new album. You are hearing it here first at N2S, it is going to be sick. It will be dope if one day we can see him rock with a full band AND Wally. Now THAT will be type sick.

BMI really knows how to put on a show. Showcasing artists in NYC can be a challenge, but when they rock with you..they ROCK with you. Shouts to BMI for putting their artists creativity first.
