From Corpus Christi, Texas, Latasha Lee has been influenced by some of the greatest voices, including Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Sam Cooke, Gladys Knight, Etta James and Otis Redding. At age twenty she was noticed by Universal platinum producer Salih Williams, and in 2006 she signed to his production company Carnival Beats and began working and songwriting with him towards the goal of creating a sound that reflected 'the essence' of those legendary artists, the result being a signature sound that can be heard in songs like 'Get Away' and 'I Hear You Knockin', a sound that is soulful, smooth and timeless, reminiscent of the best of Motown and, more recently, Amy Winehouse. She continues to build her profile with live performances, and this year made it through to the last 50 of 'The X Factor'. Here she sings her song 'Left Hand Side', and, below, 'Win Her Heart'.
