Danish singer/songwriter Marie Dahlstrom began music as a hobby at the age of 13, but, when her growing love of soul music was combined with her attendance at a top music school in Copenhagen, she 'got really into music, and started to write songs, and do more for myself with my music'. Upon graduation, she wanted to 'go somewhere where I...can explore my sound, where there was a bigger scene', so she moved to London and enrolled in a Vocal Performance and Music Production degree. She also began to get involved with the London music scene, holding residencies firstly in a band at Charlie Wright's International, and, later, solo at the Native Tongue in Barbican, as well as performing gigs and appearing in such events as Vocals & Verses, Deja Vu FM's We Play Music and even doing some modeling for the House of Hoxshore. Her first EP, 'Feelings', was released in November 2011, and 'it really reflects my time here in London...I hope that they think I am honest when I write, that I put honesty across'. As well as upcoming appearances at both Vocals & Verses and The Strivers Row, she continues to work on her next release, refining her sound that, while influenced by the likes of Jill Scott, India Arie, Erykah Badu and Maxwell, is 'soulful, but with a very Scandinavian touch'. Here she performs her songs 'Search' and 'What Did You Say'.
