Sara Mancuso, Smokey O (now calls herself Smokey Jones), brings to the music scene a soulful, gritty voice that has seen her described as 'the Janis Joplin for the new generation'. This Lake Tahoe native honed her vocal skills under the instruction of renowned Berklee College of Music educator, Vinx, and on her 21st birthday, while recording, she met producer Tony Dinero. After time spent working on new material in Tony's studio, she met with Chris Anokute, Senior Vice-President of A&R at Island Def Jam Music Group, and she subsequently went to New York to play a showcase for Island Def Jam Chairman and CEO Barry Weiss. She was quickly signed, and has since been working on material for her debut album that is due for release this year, and we think she is someone to watch out for in 2013.
